The birth of our first puppies...

   We had a merry time in our place on 24th September from 7:15 to 9 pm... Our Agonny decided to give birth to her first puppies. We were 3 women present at the birth - me, Agonny and my mom (for which I thank her because I do not know if I would be able to handle my first delivery myself). The first three puppies were born really quickly, the fourth one took 2.5 hours - which slightly scared us, so we went to see the vet for the first time. The doctor told us that everything was OK and that we should have a run with the mother on our way home and the puppy would be born before we knew it. And he was right - the fourth and fifth puppy came out really fast. Then there was a break and we could see that Agoušek still had contractions but to no effect. So we alarmed stand-by duty at the vet faculty which is a stone-throw away from our house.

About 6 doctors gathered around us and it all started... Using ultrasound, the doctor found that Agonny had plenty of placenta in her belly and that the womb is not very strong anymore and that it is necessary to help her. The belly was cleaned and one more puppy was helped outside. So we took the puppy into a towel and went home. The last puppy was born at 9 pm.

   We were really taken by surprise by the fact that all the puppies born so far were boys... We could not believe our eyes because from experience around us, it was always 50-50 and we had only boys!!! Nevertheless, during our last visit at the vet clinic, doctors were placing bets whether the last puppy to be born would be a girl or a boy.

   Those who were betting on a girl won because a gorgeous princess was born for which we are really happy!!! Of course, we are also proud of our boys of which there is really a bunch. They are real fighters and some of them are also pretty "noisy".

   The last count of our babies stopped at the number 8 (7 boys and 1 girl). I have to say that this was the best experience I have ever had. It is really unbelievable how the three of us did everything possible and impossible so that the puppies and the mother were OK.

   The mother is exemplary - unbelievably caring and amazing. We watch our puppies all the time and enjoy every free moment with them.
